Leadership
In my time as a collegiate athlete, I learned how to be an effective leader. During my Junior and Senior years, I mentored and advanced the team culture to the underclassmen by helping them adjust to college athletics, answering questions, and making them feel supported in the program.
I learned that guiding the team to succeed doesn’t mean only being a vocal leader. At our daily practices, I led through example by stepping up and being the first one to go into drills, and by playing my hardest no matter what was on the line. With a positive attitude and by encouraging the players to action, I would boost the team’s morale no matter the score of the game or result of the drill.
This leadership skill translated beyond the field to the classroom, as well where I continued to help my teammates with projects, participation in class discussions, and provided thoughtful feedback as a student athlete.
Fundraising and community service are important aspects of the team experience and culture. As one of the team’s senior leaders I helped to organize and implement both a successful fundraising campaign for the 2024-2025 season and a Boys and Girl Club toy drive and fundraiser for a local group where we raised the largest amount of money they had ever received.
